FinderPop 1.9.2

Access to everything, and fast

Creator: Turley O'Connor
Pintware

My original review of FinderPop (below) is more than two years old. Meanwhile, Turley O'Connor has steadily issued updates to his contextual menu control panel for Mac OS 8 and 9. His latest releases add continued enhancements to an already excellent product, making FinderPop a 'must-have utility'.

In addition to several functional additions and improvements, O'Connor has updated (3 December 2000) his detailed instruction manual, descriptively entitled "Book of Words."

Irishman Turley says that there won't be a FinderPop version for Apple's upcoming release of OS X. That, combined with his move from Ireland to Cupertino, could lead one to draw certain conclusions... Meanwhile, get FinderPop.

FinderPopIrish author Turley describes FinderPop as 'Pintware', meaning he'd appreciate an $8 contribution for a couple of pints. Considering what FinderPop does, a dozen pints would still be a bargain.

If you're using OS 8, you already know about contextual menus. When you select any icon and then Control+Click, you access a popup menu that lets you Open, Get Info, select a label, Duplicate, etc. It's an alternative and relatively easy way to accomplish many common tasks.

FinderPop adds several submenus to Apple's contextual menus. With FinderPop, you get hierarchical access to almost everything on your Mac simply by clicking an icon or, for that matter, even an open area on your screen.

Submenus include:

Download FinderPop from the FinderPop website < http://www.finderpop.com >. Drop the icon into your Controls Panels or drag into onto your System Folder and it will find its proper place. Then restart.

Make some minor adjustments in FinderPop's Control Panel to fit your style, then go to work. And send Turley a few bucks in appreciation.
