Open Files YOUR Way
Default App 1.0.1

Default App is a deceptively simple productivity tool that works in the background to open documents in the application you specify rather than the application in which the document was created.
Here's an example: Let's say you've installed Tex-Edit Plus, a more powerful text editor than the Simple Text editor that came with your Mac. Normally, when you double-click a Simple Text icon, the file opens in Simple Text. With Default App, you can automatically open Simple Text (or TeachText or any document created in a text application) in an application of your choicesuch as Tex-Edit Plus or Word.
Likewise, you can specify a common graphics application to open files created in various graphics applications. And so on.
Default App is a real time saver, especially when it comes to opening listserve attachments. Regardless of which text application created the file, I've set Default App to open them in Tex-Edit where I can instantly strip the files of all the extra stuff, like DOS and Unix characters, that most often accompanies email documents.
If you're a medium to heavy-duty Mac junkie, you'll find Default App not only useful but almost indispensable. And, since it works only in OS-8, it gives 7.x users another reason to upgrade.
Default App is a quick 208k download that includes three pages of clear documentation. Configure Default App in its Control Panel.
